Fear is a ghost. Remember this: fear only exists in your mind. You’ve been allowing this feeling that isn’t even real to hold you back.
The only fears that we are born with are the fear of falling and the fear of loud noises. Everything else is something we make up.
There are two types of fears: Rational fears and Irrational fears.
Rational fears are life or death type of fears. For example, being afraid of walking a tightrope between two skyscrapers without any net to catch you if you fall is a logical fear to have if you prefer to continue living. Rational fears are helpful and ensure survival.
Irrational fears are fears that have nothing to do with actual survival. Some examples include: being afraid to speak in front of other people, not asking the person you find attractive out on a date because what if they say “no,” not pursuing your dreams and passions because what if it doesn’t work out? These types of fears are based on perceived danger, not actual danger, and they keep you playing small in your life.
Once you do the thing you’re irrationally afraid of you will feel free, liberated, and willing to face your fears again next time. Each time going a little bit further, and pushing your comfort zone and boundaries to new heights. The end result is you become more and more confident and competent at what you’re doing.
Your life is your movie. If you want your movie to be an action, comedy, romantic, thriller, drama, adventure experience, then do the things that you’re irrationally afraid of. Feel the fear and do it anyway. Remember that courage is not the absence of fear; courage means you’re afraid and you do it anyway because you’re more afraid of what may happen if you don’t do it.
I strongly encourage you to make your life a beautiful shining example of what’s possible when you live from love and abundance, rather than fear and scarcity. The choice is ultimately up to you.
